Research Associate: Contemporary Cognitive Stylistics for Teachers
We are looking to appoint a Research Associate to work on two tasks related to the Contemporary Cognitive Stylistics for Teachers project, designed to introduce teachers to some key concepts and tools from cognitive stylistics to support teaching and learning in their classrooms.
The role
Task 1 will involve interviewing a group of teachers from a series of workshops that we ran in 2022 to find out about the impact of those workshops on their teaching since then. The RA would undertake the interviews, transcribe and code them for themes, and write up a summary report.
Task 2 will involve developing a set of teaching activities on four topics in Cognitive Grammar to include short introductory videos, key definitions, suggestions for activities, PowerPoint slides, and key reading lists. Activities will be aimed at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with the potential to also be useful for more advanced (A-level) students
We have funding for 584 hours in total at £23.71 per hour (Aston casual rate, grade 8, point 32). It is anticipated that the work will start in January 2025 and last for up to 10 months. The work can be carried out remotely with interviews and meetings conducted via Teams.
